Dr. Ralph Barbiero was named Monday as assistant principal of Jonathan Law High School. The appointment follows the recent retirement of Richard Kramer, who had served 19 years.
Barbiero has been a social studies teacher at Law for the past 25 years and has served as the department head. He earned the credential to teach the Advanced Placement curriculum in U.S. History, and has been a teacher leader and mentor to younger professionals entering the field.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor concentration in secondary education from the University of Bridgeport in 1977, and his master’s from UB three years later. Barbiero earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UB in 1996.
Barbiero also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport where he teaches Social Studies Methods and U.S. History for teachers.
“I am thrilled Dr. Barbiero will be joining the leadership team at Law,” said Superintendent Elizabeth Feser. “He is one of the most respected teachers in the district and has been a catalyst for positive change in the curriculum.”
