The Milford Mirror is reporting that Jean Tsang is preparing to retire after a career serving the public at the Milford Library, including several years as director.
For me, Jean’s tenure will be remembered for the expansion of services, including a passport agency, two active book clubs, a number of interesting public programs, Saturday hours, the revival of the Friends group and the addition of e-books and audio books.
Every spring she’d fight the good fight with the boards controlling the city’s purse strings. Jean would patiently explain that, yes, the library IS an essential service, even more so in economic hard times.
I don’t envy the person who will follow her in the job.
