Sen. Gayle S. Slossberg (D-Milford) visited two schools on Friday to read with students as part of National Read Across America Day. She took part in the nationwide effort to promote the values of reading among schoolchildren, and read from two instructive books by Dr. Seuss.
She first stopped by the Family Resource Center located at Mathewson School and read The Cat in the Hat with children and their parents. She then joined third and fourth graders at Calf Pen Meadow School in reading The Sneetches and Other Stories.
“It was a delight to spend my day in the company of such wonderful children, parents, and educators,” Slossberg said. “It is particularly exciting to engage with parents who appreciate the importance of reading, and want to make it a central part of their children’s upbringing.”
