Broadway on the Beach, a beach-themed cabaret to take place May 17 at Costa Azzurra Restaurant will feature several area performers. The event will benefit the United Way of Milford and will be hosted by local resident Kristin Huffman, a former Miss Ohio and runner-up to Miss America.
Huffman, a Tony award winner and founder of the New Paradigm Theater, will also be accompanied by the NPT Youth Board, including Milford resident Shaina Arsenault.
Arsenault, a sophomore at Joseph A. Foran High School and winner of the 2012 Mayor’s Youth Leadership award, has been a member of the 7-person Youth Board since its founding.
Broadway performers from the New Paradigm Theatre scheduled to appear are Gwendolyn Jones (Radio City Music Hall, Nunsense National Tour with Sally Struthers), Fred Rose (Broadway: Cabaret, Company, Phantom, Cirano), Bret Shuford (Broadway: Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast). Jerold Goldstein, (Broadway: How to Succeed in Business, A Funny thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) of Orange, CT, will also be on stage, as well as serving as accompanist.
Also scheduled to appear are Milford residents Julianna Mazza, National American Miss Connecticut, and Kaylee Jamieson, an 8th grader at East Shore Middle School who wowed the crowd at last year’s cabaret with her stirring performance of “The Sun Will Come out Tomorrow.”
