Propane tank collection scheduled

|

Residents may safely dispose of empty or unwanted propane tanks on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m..

The Milford Fire Department will conduct the collection, at the Station 7 Firehouse, 55 Wheelers Farms Road. This collection is free but is for Milford residents only, said Capt. Kyle Brotherton. Proof of residency will be required.

Tanks should be transported in an upright position, with the safety plug in place, and properly secured in the vehicle to prevent the tank from tipping over, Brotherton said.

Preferably, the driver only should transport the tank, and the vehicle’s windows should be rolled down for ventilation, on the way to Station 7. Of course, there is no smoking during transport or at the collection site.

For more information contact the Fire Marshal’s Office, 203-874-6321.
