cp09119milrescueTwo fishermen stranded when their inflatable raft capsized Monday afternoon off of Anchor Beach were plucked from the rocks by the fire department’s rescue boat.

Dispatchers received several 911 calls shortly after 1:30 p.m., said Capt. Kyle Brotherton, the fire department spokesman. The two marine fire boats set out and found the two men on separate rock outcroppings, he said.

One of the fishermen then swam to shore and was treated for possible hypothermia, and the other was brought to shore by boat. Both men were transported to Milford Hospital‘s emergency department.

The water temperature was a chilly 66 degrees at the time, Brotherton said, and neither man was wearing a life jacket. The men were stranded when their raft capsized and then was pushed out of their reach by strong winds.
