It’s just a matter of time before A&E, The History Channel or one of those cable networks announces a program “Police Auction” to compete with “Storage Wars” and shows like that.
When they do, they ought to come to Milford, where the police department’s annual auction of seized or recovered property has turned up some real bargains.
And a few items, admittedly, where the buyer must have said “Why the heck did I bid on this?”
The Milford Police Department’s Annual Auction will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. A preview of auction items will be held at 9.
Numerous bicycles and other items will be sold to the highest bidder in “as is condition,” says Officer Jeff Nielsen, the department spokesman. The volunteer auctioneer for this event will be Patricia Francis.
The event will be held rain or shine at the rear of the police department at 430 Boston Post Road.
