Coupling a strong service game with a few thunderous spikes, sixth-seeded Foran lost the first but claimed the next two games, 25-22, to defeat No. 18 Rocky Hill 3-1 on Wednesday at Pomperaug High.
“We work hard, we know when it’s time to bear down,” said senior outside hitter Fallon Bevino, who notched 20 kills and 15 digs. “We have great chemistry. We’re really lucky to have a team that’s so easy to pick up. … Every single one of us cares as much as the other.”
The Lions — winners of seven of their last eight and 16-7 overall — will face top-seeded and defending M runner-up Woodland (23-1) in the state championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Berlin High School. It will be the Lions’ first trip to the M final since 2000 and seventh all-time.
