A Civil War regiment that included many men from Milford and Orange will be the topic of a discussion by historian Robert Larkin on Monday, March 17, 7 p.m. at the Mary Taylor Methodist Church.
Larkin’s talk ,”Forward the 9th,” will be part of the annual joint meeting of the Milford and Orange Historical Societies. The program is free and open to the public.
The regiment was formed in New haven in 1861 and made up of 865 men, most of them recent Irish immigrants. They fought in several key battles and participated in the siege of Vicksburg.
