“Mr. Dodd’s vote was responsible and courageous”

And Simmons: “demagoguery.”

Great editorial in the Hartford Courant:

…U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was right in his decision to put the alleged 9/11 plotters on trial before a civilian criminal court in New York — the site of the worst of their crimes against the people of the United States. Americans can be proud of our justice system, which affords rights to even the worst of the worst. It is a beacon to the world..

Mr. Simmons goes off the rails rhetorically in denouncing the attorney general’s decision as “beyond the pale” and in calling Mr. Dodd “reckless” for voting against a ban on such trials. And Mr. Simmons’ attempt to scare Connecticut residents about a possible change of venue for the trial to this state — calling such a move “alarming” and “dangerous” — was demagoguery.

Mr. Dodd’s vote was responsible and courageous…
