News travels fast– any story that takes longer than two minutes to tell is over before it starts. I should know I made my living telling stories as news reporter. My compensation was humble, but the experience was priceless.
The best interviews come from reporters that are able to get to the truth of the story faster then others. Before anyone will tell you anything, it necessary for that person to trust you– to trust you are going to retell their story without bias. That is what drew me to reporting, my natural ability to bond with others. I considered it a gift, and I used to make a difference in the community. One day it could be as simple as giving a bargaining tip and the next day I could be at police headquarters pressuring police to solve a murder.
Reporting will always be my passion, and in my heart. I found however, that there is more then one way to connect to people. As the daughter of the dynamic decorating duo Betsy & Robert Knapp, I laughingly say that I am genetically predisposed for creating beautiful accessories and living spaces. With a touch of their guidance and drawing on my inspirations, I created my decorative pillow collection, Samantha Knapp Atelier at Maisonettestore.com.
Design gives me the chance to bond with clients on a personal level and build a partnership. Together we craft their living space that expresses my client’s personality and best vision of themselves.
The idea for my book came as a natural progression-interactions with people..sprinkled with a few lessons torn from the pages of my “Sex in The City”. I have kissed a lot of frogs sitting on bachelor pads and am still searching for my prince in a “modern-day” castle. Though tough at times, I love the journey of being single. It is a time to celebrate. It is a time to be free of boundaries but not free of good taste. I hope it brings just as much enjoyment, smiles and helpful tidbits as it did to write it.

Come out, Wednesday night May 19th for the “Stoked On Spring!” 2010 charity art auction. All this set to the backdrop of the beautiful Milk Studios gallery space with great bites and an open bar. The evening is all in support of Stoked Mentoring, an incredible organization which mentors at-risk teens through action sports both here in New York and in Los Angeles (www.stoked.org).

Talk is Cheap when you Design on a Dime…
“Talk is Cheap” and the dozens of in demand designers who packed the Housing Works: Design on a Dime Benefit proved they were willing to put their money where their mouth was offering an inside look at their design sensibilities at an amazingly cheap rate. All the money raised helps benefit Housing Works and the many facets of the organization that help those in need. With the help of trusty mother and partner in creative crime, Talking Tigerlilys toured the event and chatted with all the top stylists and brought back tips of the trade. FACE TO FACE WITH IAN ZIERING: The Talk at Tigerlilys last week was our friend Ian Ziering. We went face to face with Ian literally about his days at the baby faced blond, red-corvette driving super teen with a zip code that surpassed Greenwich and the UES, to his next popular step where he tangoed his way into the American’s rhythmatic hearts on season four of Dancing With Stars, to a new venture that has him looking right at the man in the mirror. “If I know something well, I can speak passionately, and enthusiastically about it,” Ian told Talking Tigerlilys. Under the bright lights of Hollywood where beauty is as much with-in as skin deep, Ian has kept pace. “Everyone always tells me how young I look, and at 45, I consider that a pretty big compliment. Of course I’d like to thank my parents first, but good genes can only go so far. While traveling in “Hollywood” circles, you can be sure I’ve tried every cream, scrub and magic potion there is out there to keep my appearance competitive. Galvanic Spa and I was shocked at how much better it looked than the other side. My pores were tighter, my skin tone was radiant and texture was smoother”.
