Westport take a look behind Main Street under the Gap for another fabulous addition to our ever growing restaurant/nightlife…..Cru
Cru is the second endeavor for owners Todd Rose and Steve Prokop. Their first success is Cuvée in West Hartford, CT. In the past four years Cuvée has become a hot spot with its Manhattan Lounge feel. (think Flute or Bubble Lounge in NYC)
Both restaurants names are derived from French wine terms:
Cuvée….. Blend of grapes when making wine and champagne.
Cru……. The growth or the quality of the wine “higher end”,
Owners Todd and Steve wanted to elevate the same Metropolitan sexy feel with a stronger emphasis on food to Westport. That’s when Cru was developed.
Cru has a luxe modern chic decor, with leather couches, distressed mirrors, a beautiful fireplace and a elegant wrap around bar. Dining consists of small to medium vignettes and a larger area that can be enclosed for private parties.
Chef Sergio Reyes broke the menu into 3 regions; American, Mediterranean, and Pacific with all the food ingredients being very versatile, Tapas and small plates paired with fabulous wine with each dish.
Some of Chef Sergio’s favorites include:
Pork belly dumplings – perfect balance of flavors yum, after all pork is the new white meat!
Scallops – pan seared w chorizo sauce
Hamachi Tartar – Japanese Arberjack fish ( comparable to yellowtail in taste) marinaded in coconut milk with plantation chips.
Sliders my personal fave 2 smaller burgers served on pretzel roll worth pomme frites OMG!!!
The food is young & fun.
