MICHELE’S PIES, 666 MAIN AVE., NORWALK

11/10/2009

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay will duke it out in the kitchen with Michele Albano, of Michele’s Pies in Norwalk, tomorrow night on the Food Network.

The Episode of Throwdown! with Bobby Flay will center around Albano’s maple pumpkin pie with pecan streusel.

I can’t say I’ve had the pumpkin pie, but I tried the chocolate pecan last year and it was pretty killer.*

WEDNESDAY, 11/11 ON THE FOOD NETWORK, 9 P.M.

–CP

* Though not any better than Kerry Sherck’s wicked-good pecan pie, she is a good friend of the LBC and deserves a little praise here.

These pies are WAY too expensive and the woman is rude to boot. I asked her about her prices and she gave me the snottiest attitude. it seems unless you are stroking her ego and telling her how great she is, she doesn’t want to hear a word against her. If her pies were worth the money, I’d say so. But they are just plain average.

    Michelle,

Congratulations on all your determination to make winning pies, your staff too.

Why not go onto the show — sharks television…the supply advice for business owners — sounds like maybe you need some direction on shipping across the usa.

Also, you might want to go green in your shop — no need to disinfect with toxic cleaner…interested in oprah’s favorite green pick contact me for easy demo…$ saver too, concentrated

Michelle’s pie looked delicious and made me want to make my filling from scratch (but I won’t due to time). I have a feeling the toaster ovens may have affected the crust because I have a hard time believing the pies are as popular as they are, yet both judges had problems with the crust. I think Bobby actually looked very surprised and undeserving on this win.

  7. Leigh says:

Just watched the throwdown with Bobby. Your pie looked delicious! However, when I went to your website it stated that it was down. I will keep trying until I get to view your site. Keep up the good work. I also like to start from scratch on all my baking.

  8. Keep upo the good work,I cook a mean sweet potato pie and take a lot of inspiration from watching you on throw down.

  9. Bonnie Ohman says:

This pie throwdown was by far the best. The Judges seemed to be bias!Michele’s pie should hav won. I hope she will began to ship her pies, I would love to have one for Christmas since it’s too late for Thanksgiving.

  10. Howie Keen says:

Michele told the ingredients for the struesel as she was making it on the Throwdown … 3/4 cup chopped pecan, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 2 tablespoons cold butter … then a judge mentioned they liked the salt in the struesel … I plan to use this topping on apple or berry pies as well … if it turns out as good as it looks and I’m sure it will … thanks

I am as well, an employee at Michele’s Pies. This pie is amazing! And so are all the others we bake. I highly recommend buying your pies here! And for the shipping…it is in progress but unfortunately will not happen for this years holidays…however if you call the store we will take your e-mail address and Michele will notify all of you when we do begin to ship. The throwdown was such an amazing experience! A trip to the bakery is worth it!

  13. I work at Michele’s Pies and this pie in particular is so freaking good! The smell of the maple, pecans and pumpkin when it’s baking in the oven just permeates through the store and it’s just so good! All her pies are fantastic. We had such a great time at the Throwdown!

  14. Jennifer says:

I would also love the recipe and I’ve look everywhere. I called Michelle’s Pie in Norwalk and it’s a secret recipe but still could improvise Bobby’s recipe which I can’t find anywhere!

Michelle’s Pies doesn’t ship yet so hopefully in the future they will!

I would love to have it for Thanksgiving!

  15. Mike says:

What a super pie and well showcased. Bobby mentioned everyone should order their holiday pies from you and I went to your website immediately. Too bad you don’t freeze and ship because I would love to try your pie but alas I’m in Chicago. I’m glad to see you doing well in your business and I’m thrilled you showed so well against Bobby Flay…. The judges were too critical in my opinion but what can you do except celebrate your success. Congratulations!!

    Mike

  16. Rae says:
