A Foot in the Door

Labor Day is unofficially deemed the end of summer.

Goodbye to tank tops and bare legs.  Farewell to cookouts and Coppertone.  So long to sundresses and sandals.

I hate parting with these pleasant characteristics of the summer season especially with the prospect of shorter days and colder temps rapidly approaching.  Without sounding as though the glass is half empty, let me add that I do enjoy the signature highlights of fall making the seasonal transition appear as a glass half full.

Cooler nights make sleeping a dream.  Bright colored mums add zest to pots on porches and fading flowerbeds.  Upcoming holidays bring anticipation and excitement to people of all ages, races and religions.  Retail stores and online sites are overflowing with new fashionable finds to sink our feet into.

Fall’s new array of shoes and boots seem to line the pages of every women’s magazine as early as the August edition which hits the newsstands mid July. This season’s specialties include lace-up pumps, heels and flats, printed and patterned shoes of all shapes, over-the-knee, open sandal-style and tough biker boots, as well as lug soles and loafer details.

Despite the warmer days are waning, slipping into one of these cool soles will keep you celebrating the new season…all season long.
