A Hartford resident and the Connecticut Fair Housing Center say the Winchester Housing Authority denied housing to a woman because she is black.
Crystal Carter and the state’s housing center are suing the Winchester Housing Authority in federal court. They say the housing authority told Carter move to Bridgeport, New Haven or Torrington, where there are more black residents instead of moving to Winchester, the Associated Press reported.
