Baby names 2013: What’s hot?

|

What baby names are hottest out of the gate for 2013?

Nameberry, a site where expecting parents go for baby name inspiration, has compiled a list of 13 unusual and surprising names attracting significantly higher views in the first quarter of this year versus the same time period last year (see above). In other words, these are up-and-coming baby names that parents are considering right now.

While the Social Security Administration will releases a list of 2013 names based on actual births and name choices in the United States in the spring of 2014, Nameberry has taken a close look at the data compiled between January and March 2013 to predict which names are climbing most rapidly in popularity this year.

“Our list measures which names our relatively style-conscious visitors are most curious about,” co-founder Pamela Redmond Satran says. “And Nameberry searches come from all over the world, with about a two-thirds of all visits originating in the United States and the rest coming from outside the country, especially Canada and England.”

Influences for the 2013 list include television characters and romantic literary heroes, celebrity babies and classic jazz musicians. The picks for popping names are as contemporary as Wilder and as ancient as Phaedra and include surnames and word names and diminutives along with classic firsts.

What was up-and-coming in 2012? Take at Nameberry’s list from last year below.

  1. Just because athletes are popularizing the act of wearing Nike Free Run shoes, the company has made great strides in giving the average consumer a good reason for buying their shoes: the Nike sense of fashion is considered to be quite trendy. Several different lines exist for different occasions, such as the Black Nike Free Run shoe which is intended for formal occasions. Clearly, consumers are just as happy as athletes.
