Drivers wise up! Police to crack down on traffic law violators

New Canaan’s finest will intensify their efforts to bring law and order to the public highways and thoroughfares tomorrow,  Dec. 14. According to a press release from Captain Leon Krolikowski, the effort will focus on those who:

fail to use seatbelts, exceed the speed limit, use hand held cellular phones while driving, follow too close to other vehicles, and violate other traffic laws, which contribute to motor vehicle accidents.

Though the efforts won’t start until tomorrow, a police car with lights flashing was spotted this morning on the shoulder (a.k.a. grass) of New Norwalk Road (123), not for a traffic stop, but simply with lights flashing.

The police monitoring will focus on the most highly trafficked roads in town, shown below on a map.
