Starting July 15, food enthusiasts will be touring some of the town’s most vibrant restaurants as part of the inaugural New Canaan Taste Tours.
The event will allow diners to try four restaurants in one night, savoring a different course in each one of them. The tour will cost $65 and includes up to 30 minutes in each place.
Here’s a sample menu:
- Elm Restaurant, 73 Elm St. – summer snacks and bites
- Picador, 15 Elm St. – tostadas, fried calamari, Brussels sprouts and chicken croquettes
- Chef Luis, 129 Elm St. – shrimp sausage jambalaya
- South End, 36 Pine St. – dark rum canelés with rum and raisin ice cream
These four restaurants have agreed to run the tours every Tuesday and Wednesday until Aug. 27. There will be two sittings, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m.
The price includes all four courses, tax and gratuity.
New Canaan resident Rachel Lampen, who has previously organized tours at London restaurants, is helping organize the event.
“When I moved to New Canaan over a year ago, I was struck by its incredible restaurant offering and want it to become a real food destination,” she said.
Lampen said there are plans to expand the tours into Forest and Main streets.
