New Canaan’s Village Critter Outfitter is hosting a bully breed adoption event this weekend.

Bully breeds are dogs in the pit bull class, such as American pit bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, bulldogs and pit bull mixes, according to Bully Breed Rescue, a nonprofit New Canaan organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing such dogs.

The organization will be visiting Village Critter Outfitter, 107 Cherry St., from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2.

“Their goal is to help give these precious misunderstood dogs a second chance at the wonderful life that they deserve by placing them in forever homes,” Shirleen Dubuque, owner of Village Critter Outfitter, said on the store’s website. “They really make a difference by spending extra time rehabilitating these fantastic bully breeds so that their next home is a permanent home.”

For more information, visit villagecritteroutfitter.com or call the store at 203-972-7000.
