Otis and the Hurricanes will perform at Waveny Park this Thursday, Aug. 14.

Tonight’s Otis and the Hurricanes’  concert has been postponed until Thursday night due to weather, Recreation Director Stephen Benko said.

New Canaan could see some showers and thunderstorms mainly before 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

“We thought it was probably better to postpone it until tomorrow rather than rolling the dice,” Benko said.

Otis and the Hurricanes  will perform Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Waveny House patio, as part of New Canaan’s 2014 Waveny Summer Concert Series.

The Fairfield County band plays New Orleans funk and delta blues. Its influences include Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Little Feat, The Funky Meters, Alan Toussaint and Delbert McClinton.

Besides Otis and the Hurricanes, the free concert series will feature two more concerts this summer: Mill River Band on Aug. 20 and Fairfield Counts Big Band on Aug. 27.
