After a four-month hiatus, New Canaan’s famous gathering of vintage car enthusiasts is returning to town next Sunday, Sept. 7.
The increasingly popular Caffeine & Carburetors, which gathers vintage car enthusiasts in downtown New Canaan on Sunday mornings, has grown larger and larger this year, drawing nearly 4,000 people and more than 400 cars at the latest event, May 4.
The gathering has been held six times a year since 2009, but due to the increasing crowds, the organizers were not able to get a permit for the June event, which was then held at Lime Rock Park, in Salisbury.
Besides next week’s gathering, Caffeine & Carburetors will have a warm-up event at Lime Rock Park this Sunday, Aug. 31.
Two other upcoming gatherings, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2, are on hold as organizers hold discussions with town officials about the logistics of the event.
Upcoming Caffeine & Carburetors:
Aug. 31 - Lime Rock Park, Salisbury
Sept. 7 – Pine and Elm streets, New Canaan
Oct. 5 – Pending
Nov. 2 – Pending
