A squirrel was making a mighty racket this morning in the lilac bush off our back deck. We looked out the kitchen window in time to see this bobcat, who has been around the Oxford neighborhood this spring, climb over a pot on our deck stairs and up onto the deck — trying to get closer to the chattering squirrel.
“Where’s the camera?” my husband Jim whispered. The squirrel, who was so frantic it was trying to get on our roof, succeeded in chasing the hungry bobcat away. But when Jim stepped out on the deck, the bobcat turned for one more look.
He is an amazingly handsome animal and we were awed to have such a close look.
But how do you appreciate the wild bobcat, yet root for the squirrels? Maybe bobcat will join us for eggs next time.
