Attend Danbury car and motorcycle show Sunday and you can help this 24-year-old fireman and college student fight brain cancer

Joe LaDuca is a 24-year-old college student and volunteer firefighter from Danbury who needs help fighting brain cancer. Sunday, Oct. 20, there’s a car and bike show on Main Street in Danbury that will raise funds to help LaDuca with his many financial needs.  It’s called “Karing for Kelly,” and features food and live music, along with the show.

LaDuca, a Danbury High School grad,  has three malignant tumors in his brain. The charity event is being hosted by Ridgefield resident George Korres in partnership with Lew Lombardo. Korres is the owner of Nico’s Pizza and Pasta at 175 Main Street in Danbury. Lombardo owns Ultimate Restorations LLC on Triangle Street, also in Danbury.

These two entrepreneurs, along with their families, are teaming up to host the fourth annual “Karing for Kelly” charity event. Each year the event raises money to assist a local friend. This time all proceeds will go to LaDuca.

Weather permitting, Karing for Kelly will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., outside of Nico’s. Along with the cars, motorcycles and food, there will be raffles. The idea is to show LaDuca that no one fights alone.

The donation is $20 per car or bike if you want to enter the show (there will be prizes).  If you have questions, call Korres at 203-526-8429, or  Kaitlinh Ho, who graduated with LaDuca and can be reached at 203-917-1142.

Ho said  wrist bands will be sold that say “Team Joe, no one fights alone.” The money that goes to LaDuca will come from what is collected when people buy food such as burgers, hot dogs, pizza, wings and baked goods, as well as from the raffles.

People can also make a donation when voting for which vehicle should win at the show. There will be a special parking area for the motorcycles.

Live music by In Harmony starts at 1 p.m. There will also be music by Mega Watt Entertainment.

Parking will be available on Main Street and in the Keeler Street lot behind the Danbury Palace.

If you can’t attend but would like to help LaDuca, you can send a donation to Union Savings Bank, c/o Karing for Kelly, 225 Main St., Danbury, CT,  06810
