Struggling homeowners take notice.
On Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. a Homeowners’ Mortgage Assistance Event will be held at the Connecticut Convention Center at 100 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford. The event is sponsored by Gov. Dannel Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen and the Connecticut Department of Banking.
In many of our area towns, families are still facing the impact of a still-difficult economy and some fear the loss of their homes due to an inability to cover their household expenses, including a home mortgage. This event is intended to help connect families with resources meant to keep them housed, or make whatever arrangments might be necessary to lessen their burden.
At this event, there will be banking lenders, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development housing counselors, and various state agencies, including the Connecticut Housing Authority, the Connecticut Fair Housing Center, the Judicial Foreclosure Mediation agency, The Workplace Inc., and 2-1-1 Infoline. The U.S. Veteran’s Administration will also be prese4nt.
