Zoners consider religious school

The Ridgefield Planning and Zoning Commission will continue its hearing  into a proposal to build a new religious school on Tackora  Trail when it meets Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Town hall annex on Prospect Street.
The Society of St. Pius X wants to build a 7,600- square foot school — the Padre Pio  School —  on land it already owns on Tackora Trail. It already  has a chapel and retreat house on the 13 acres it owns there.
The society is a conservative Roman Catholic organization. It celebrates the mass in Latin and has questioned many of the reforms the church has enacted  over the past 40 years.
