Driver cited in Danbury crash with pedestrian

UPDATE — City police cited a Danbury woman for driving without a license and failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crash that left a man unconscious on White Street this morning.

The victim, who police have not yet been able to identify, was found unconscious and transported to Danbury Hospital where police said he is now in stable condition, according to a press release issued by Lt. Christian Carroccio, Danbury police spokesman.

Police said the victim was walking across White Street in a crosswalk when a vehicle driven by Maria Moreno-Jimenez, 29, of Danbury, struck him, police said.

White Street was closed around the scene after the crash but has since reopened.

Police asked that any witnesses contact Officer Kruijs at 203-797-2156


UPDATE — Police have White Street blocked off between Homestead Avenue and Locust Avenue due to a crash involving a pedestrian.

Traffic was congested on Meadow and James streets and Locust Avenue, where re-routed motorists drove around the crash.

DANBURY — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on White Street this morning.

City police responded to the scene near White Street’s intersection with Meadow Street shortly after 9 a.m.

Details on the incident were not yet available.
