For the past couple of days I’ve been working on a story that appears in today’s paper about a more than 32 percent hike in propane gas prices in the past year that mostly resulted from supply shortages in the mid west.
While working the story, however, I heard a lot of complaints from delivery people about walks and paths to filling pipes not being cleared away. This they say, can make it very difficult if not impossible to deliver propane, heating oil and other fuels, especially when there is more than two feet of snow around the house.
Those in the business have asked for a gentle reminder to area residents who are looking to have a fuel delivery in the near future that clearing out a path will be a HUGE help for their drivers – and it may prevent you from not getting any fuel at all.
Homeowners should also make sure to check any exhaust pipes on the exterior of the home that may be covered in snow, which could result in a very dangerous situation.
