New homes- far, far away from home

exoplanetsThe Kepler space telescope has been hugely successful in doing what it was supposed to do – finding new planets.

This week, NASA  added 715 new planets found by Kepler to its list of exoplanets _ planets outside our solar system. That means we now know of about 1,500 to 1,800 planets outside the neighborhood.

Most of these aren’t habitable  they’re either gas planets or too close to the sun. Bu Kepler has found rocky planets within the habitable zone – the just-right place in space where life could exist.

Humans still have billions of year before our sun dies. That should be enough time to find ways to move off earth, if the need arises.
