Police: Danbury shooting victim in critical condition

DANBURY — The 24-year-old man shot at Rose Street and Bells Lane on Thursday is in critical condition at Danbury hospital, police said Friday.

Danbury Police Lt. Christian Carroccio issued a press release Friday morning listing the victim’s condition as critical and identifying him only as a 24-year-old man. Police said he was shot once through the arm and chest by Eliseo Soto, 33, of Danbury. The shooting occurred after a disturbance earlier in the evening, police said.

Soto was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault and criminal use of a firearm. Soto was held on $500,000 bond.

Witnesses said Thursday that the victim had been attacked prior to the shooting.
