The Youth Reacting to AIDS (YRTA) Youth Empowerment Conference is a statewide youth to youth conference. YRTA organizes this one day event with the purpose of sharing information about HIV/AIDS preventive programs in the Greater Danbury area. For the last 19 years, Interfaith AIDS Ministry of Greater Danbury, Inc. has been the sponsoring agency for this statewide conference. Youth Peer AIDS Educators from across CT attend this youth driven-organized conference to interact with others in their same positions. It is an opportunity for them to discuss their successes and pitfalls of their intervention programs, as well as, attend presentations and speeches by those in the HIV/AIDS field. This conference has provided a fertile ground for ideas, networking and information exchange among all youth in CT. YRTA is a learning tool that fosters leadership, public speaking, communication, networking, community service and team working skills. Attendees at the conference are primarily between 13 and 24 years of age.
Registration is $5.00. Since the conference has a limited number of seats, people are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
