Bethel housekeeper charged with pawning employer’s jewelry

BETHEL — Town police arrested a New Britain woman on Monday on charges that she stole a ring from the home where she worked as a housekeeper.

Maryann Lamper, 38, was held on a $15,000 surety bond after police took her into custody on Codfish Hill Road while she was on her way to her next appointment at the victim’s home, police said. She was charged with one count of third-degree larceny.

The charge against Lamper arose after her employer noticed a $5,300 family heirloom ring was missing from her home earlier this month, police said. An investigation found the ring had been pawned by Lamper, police said.
