PATTERSON, N.Y. — State police have tentatively identified the human remains found by residents in a wooded area on Saturday as a 39-year-old Patterson man who had been missing for more than three years.
Gabriel Lopez-Duarte had not been seen since he left his home on a bicycle in October 2010. A relative subsequently reported him missing, authorities said.
The remains, which police said were in an advanced state of decomposition, was found by residents who were clearing the area off Maple Avenue.
A search of state police K9 units, forensic personnel and other law enforcement members lead to the discovery of a bicycle and identification associated with Lopez-Duarte. Positive identification is pending DNA analysis.
