Lake Waramaug in Kent has been closed by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
After routine water quality test, Lake Waramaugwas closed on Thursday. The DEEP staff collects water samples from all bodies of water in Connecticut to ensure that it is safe for swimming.
While tests of the lake indicated bacteria, the DEEP said, the bacteria is not a disease causing pathogen. The tests are used by public health and environmental protection authorities to evaluate the potential for contamination in waterbodies.
The Lake was retested on Thursday and will be reopened depending on the results, which will come in on Friday.
