A Ridgefield man was arrested Thursday night for having nine packets of heroin in his car.
Police responded to a 11:30 p.m. call of an intoxicated man walking down Main Street. When investigating they found Cliff Gilchrist, 27, sitting in his car with nine packets of heroin in his lap.
The packets held between one tenth and a quarter of a gram of heroin, said police. Each packet could be sold for $15 to $20 on the street.
Gilchrist was charged with possession of narcotics, but was later released on a $250 bond. He will appear in court on August 21.
