Westport robbers flee wrong way on Merritt

The second suspect has been captured, according to scanner reports. Troopers are still processing the scene, including the suspects’ car, trying to recover weapons.

The woman whose car was struck has requested medical assistance, and an ambulance has been dispatched, according to scanner reports.

Two suspects fleeing a Westport bank robbery drove north on the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway, striking another vehicle in their attempt to escape.

State Police had one of the two suspects in custody following the crash near Exit 41 in Norwalk, according to scanner reports.

The men allegedly held up the TD Bank at 1111 Post Road East in Westport shortly before 10 a.m. and fled in a gold Volvo with Virginia plates, according to scanner reports.

State Police set up a perimeter and used tracking dogs to locate the suspects, who fled on foot into the woods.
