Convicted killer commits suicide in jail

The Connecticut Department of Correction is investigating the suicide of a female inmate at the Hartford Correctional Center.

At approximately 10:42 a.m. on Thursday,, correctional staff conducting routine tours observed an inmate in her cell with a ligature tied to her neck. She was the only inmate in the cell at the time.

Correctional and medical staff immediately initiated emergency and life saving measures, according to spokesman Andrius Banevicius.

The inmate was transported to where she was pronounced dead at 11:33a.m.

The inmate is identified as 40-year-old Sherri Clarke of New Britain. She was a sentenced inmate serving 25 years for felony murder, who had entered the York Correctional Institution on Sept. 18, 2009.

The exact manner and cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Department of Correction Security Division and the Connecticut State Police are investigating the death.

    Sherri Clarke never committed the murder, she was charged as an accessory. At least do some research before you post the article…cmon, I found it on Google in 5 minutes.
