People have the right to bear arms to form well-regulated militias to secure the free state. But the trigger happy right-wingers only read the second half of the amendment and ignore the historic context in which it came to be.
We are all sad beyond imagination, but even more angry. Angry that again innocent people had to die from legal guns. Who the heck needs two pistols and a semi-automatic rifle in a small town that has almost no crime? The answer to that is not important. It is more interesting to see if the gun glorifying and trigger happy US society will finally come to senses. We have well regulated militias, we call them Police these days. There is no reason for individuals to arm up. Sadly, even 20 shot children will not change minds. If anything, the NRA and their Republican fanclub will demand that teachers wear loaded guns in class. That wouldn’t be the first time they propose that.

You, the 2nd Amendment fanatics, how many more people need to die before you change your minds?

    Wake up America!
Firstly, my heart goes out to all those affected in this terrible tragedy that should not have happened.

I am from the UK, and we just cannot grasp your inability to see that the right to bear arms is an historic one, and has no place in the 21st century in a first world nation.

Perhaps you should address your domestic shortcomings before waltzing around the world dictating how other countries should conduct their affairs and adopt democracy when your own political system is barely democratic itself.

Don’t blame the gun. Blame the violent movies and video games these young people have grown up with.

I’m a G*d-fearing Republican and proud of it. I love my beer, my ladies, my truck and my right to bear arms. But this horror has caused me to think twice. Semi-automatic assault weapons that can fire multiple rounds into folks in mere seconds? That just ain’t right. We don’t live in Uzbekistan. This is the U-S-of-A. Aren’t we supposed to live as Christ would have wanted us to? In peace, harmony and love? Where in that equation does blasting my neighbor with a semi-automatic fit in?
