Stratford prepares for Sandy Hook victim’s wake

Beginning at 2 p.m. Huntington Avenue will be closed to all through traffic between Main Street and Fenelon Place in Stratford, in preparation for calling hours for Victoria Soto, police said.

Southbound traffic on Huntington Avenue will be detoured at Fenelon Place towards Main Street, said Lt. Frank Eannotti.

A large crowd is expected at the wake for Soto, who was one of the 26 people shot to death last Friday at Sandy Hook School in Newtown.

There is very limited parking at Adzima’s Funeral home on a first come, first served basis, the police spokesman said. Additional parking is available at the nearby Temple Beth Shalom, Stratford Baptist Church, the rear lot of the stores at Paradise Green, and after 4 p.m. in the lot of People’s Bank, Eannotti said

Soto’s funeral is Wednessday, 10 a.m. at the Lordship Community Church, 190 Prospect St.
