Audio purported to be voice of Adam Lanza

An online story posted Wednesday states Adam Lanza placed a chilling call to an Oregon talk radio show just over a year ago before his attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

The New York Daily News reported Lanza phoned the “Anarchy Radio” program hosted by John Zerzan on Dec. 11, 2011, one year and three days before Lanza killed his mother at home, 26 people at the school and then himself.

In the purported call, detailed in the Daily News story and in accompanying audio on the newspaper’s website, a young man talks in detail about the 2009 chimpanzee attack in Stamford, in which a woman’s face was torn off.

The caller speaks calmly as he equates the attack by Travis, the chimp, with acts of violence perpetrated by humans. He suggests that Travis’ impulses were not unlike those of humans, and that among both people and apes, such acts might be the result of oppressive domestication.

A note of caution: The Daily News article and particularly the accessible audio might be extremely upsetting to some people.
