Carlos Soto, 16, told an interviewer at a conference on gun violence on Monday that after his sister, Victoria, a 27-year-old teacher was killed in the at Sandy Hook shootings “I believe I lay in my bed for the whole week.
“I came out of it when I took a trip to D.C. three months after it happened, to lobby and to speak out,” he told Emily Bazelon of Slate.com
Bazelon, the legal affairs editor for the on-line magazine and the author of “Sticks and Bones,” about bullying victim Phoebe French, met with Soto at the conference, Monday in Washington, D.C.
She interviewed Carlos Soto, as well as relatives of other mass shooting victims, at the conference sponsored by the Brady Campaign.
