A crash Coors in technology.

Are so-called “sin products” in the driver’s seat for all sorts of new technology? The porn industry is commonly credited with pushing forward technology in the video industry (although it may be somewhat of an urban legend).

Meanwhile, Coors Light continues to push the envelope with technology in its own way. After doing such things has releasing cans that change color when they’re cold, now they’ve created a package that has a window that is transparent only when the package is cold. It’s designed to help people quickly scan a cooler and know which packages are cold enough to buy right now.

Granted, I can’t think of a time I’ve ever bought a case of beer and needed to drink it right. That. Second. But I’m sure it has its uses.

I’m sure their marketing department sees this as the biggest innovation in beer since the “Born On” date for Budweiser and other Anheuser Busch products. Ironically, that technology is now obsolete, as the company has been able to extend the freshness dates of many of its products by using, of course, better manufacturing technology.
