This weekend there’ll be a pretty significant traffic jam on Interstate 84 west in the Danbury area — the New York Department of Transportation will demolish the existing bridge over Dingle Ridge Road in the Town of Southeast and slide a prefabricated bridge in its place, all in about 18 hours.
In bridge construction terms that’s got to be pretty quick. But nothing is going to feel quick if you’re planning on driving west of Danbury via 84 this weekend. Authorities expect major backup on a detour that will be put in place around the work.
Do you have plans that might have to change because of the project? Let me know — I’ll be writing about it tomorrow and would like to hear from you.
