Big, small, save ‘em all: Fighting breast cancer with poetry, music

“Big or small, save them all.”

That’s the short but sweet fight-breast-cancer poem we saw on someone’s shirt this past weekend up in Warrensburg , N.Y. (home of the world’s largest garage sale.) It’s a good message and a good cause — my mom is a two-time breast cancer survivor.

You missed the giant garage sale (thousands of people were there, including a guy from New Milford’s Elephant Trunk Flea Market), but you can still enjoy some inspiring poetry this coming weekend. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and in tribute to all those who have battled, and are still battling, this disease – Voices of Poetry is having an afternoon of fine poetry and good music on Saturday, Oct. 12, at White Silo Winery in Sherman.

The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and poetry will be offered by the following poets:

Sandra Bishop Ebner
Athena Demetra Fliakos
Alice-Anne Harwood
Karen Silk
Susan Tuz

The music will be provided by Margaux Hayes & Richard McGhee

Admission is $15 per person or $25 per couple.  Proceeds to go to the American Cancer Society.
