Tony Gorman, the longtime coach and athletic director at Abbott Tech, will be one of eight coaches and one media member inducted into the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame at its 37th annual induction ceremony on Thursday at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

Gorman coached boys basketball, soccer, baseball and cross country at Abbott Tech from 1967-1988 and served as the athletic director from 1979-2007. In soccer, Gorman’s teams won one WCC crown and two division titles.

Gorman has also officiated baseball and soccer for more than 45 years and remains active in officiating both sports. He has been named the Connecticut Baseball Umpire of the Year and the Connecticut Soccer Official of the Year by the CHSCA. In 2012, he was named the Referee of the Year by the Western Connecticut Soccer Officials Association.

Born and raised in Danbury, Gorman is a graduate of the St. Peter School, Fairfield Prep and Western Connecticut State. At Western, he was a four-year starter on the basketball team and was the second-highest scorer in program history when he graduated with 1,262 points.
