Stabbing leads to 2nd-degree assault charge

A 28-year-old Danbury man is facing second-degree assault charge related to a domestic incident Friday night, police said.

Edwin Cruz, of Elm Street, Danbury is being held on $50,000 bond. He was taken into custody Friday at approximately 9:50 p.m. at his Elm Street residence when police responded to the report of a stabbing victim, police said.

On arrival, officers found the female victim who lived with Cruz sitting in a kitchen chair with a towel held to her left upper arm and being cared for by a man and woman. Cruz was seen in the next room lying in a bed. Officers located a folding knife near the scene, according to police.

Cruz was being held on $50,000 bond Saturday morning. The stabbing victim was taken to Danbury Hospital Friday with a laceration to her left arm, police said.
