DANBURY — A 26-year-old man who tried to start a fire at a Federal Road mental health clinic was taken to Danbury Hospital after police broke into the room where he had barricaded himself Monday afternoon.

Police and firefighters evacuated the Blue Sky Behavioral Health Center shortly before 2:10 p.m. after the man locked himself into the room and threatened to start a fire, police said.

The Crisis Negotiation Team was able to establish contact with the man and tried to convince him to leave the room, but after an hour, he became more agitated and tried to start a fire., At that point, Emergency Services Unit officers forced their way into the room and subdued the man, police said.
