A 26-year-old Newtown man is facing drunk driving charges after his 1988 Honda Civic crashed into a house on Candlewood Lake Road South in New Milford.

Ryan Delrossi, Huningtown Road, Newtown was arrested Jan. 19 after New Milford police responded to a motor vehicle crash at 773 Candlewood Lake Road South.

Delrossi allegedly drove his Honda onto the lawn of the ranch-style house, stopping near the front of the residence, police said. The 911 called came in at 10:45 p.m. that the vehicle had hit the house, was smoking and the driver was unable to exit the car, police said.

Delrossi was extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel from Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Delrossi was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and making a restricted turn. He was released on $500 bond with a Jan. 27 court date in Superior Court in Bantam.

The owners of the house are listed on Vision Appraisal as William and Dawn Kraft.
