|

The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission elected Laura Lerman as its new chairman this week.

She will be succeeding Jennifer Johnston Cebry, an early advocate of the creation of the commission and chairman since its inception ten years ago.  Mrs. Lerman was appointed to the commission in 2012 and is also president of the Newtown Choral Society.

Jennifer Johnston Cebry will take the vice-chairman position, replacing Jennifer Rogers, who joined the Commission as an auxiliary member in its early years before joining as a Commissioner.

Donna Mangiafico, another original member of the Commission, was re-elected as treasurer. Robert Rabinowitz, a three year member of the Commission, will continue as secretary.

The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission sponsors HealingNewtown, which provides workshops and community events, The Newtown Arts festival, set this year to be a 9 day celebration of the arts and awards scholarships and grants for outstanding achievements in the arts.  The commission also publishes a monthly e-mail only newsletter on the arts in Newtown.
