Two displaced by fire in Bridgewater

UPDATE – 7:17 a.m.

Two Henry Sanford Road residents are without a home after a fire decimated the structure late Thursday night.

Bridgewater’s entire fire department along with crews from New Milford, Roxbury and Brookfield responded to the home shortly before midnight and found the structure engulfed in flames.

“When we got there the fire was coming through the roof and the backside,” said John Marsh, a Brookfield Fire Department engineer.

The home’s two residents were able to escape the building before firefighters arrived, Marsh said, and no firefighters were injured in the ensuing effort to douse the flames.

Emergency crews are on the scene of a house fire near Lake Lillinonah.

The fire at 199 Henry Sanford Road was reported around midnight Friday. Firefighters reported seeing heavy fire when they arrived.

Additional fire engines from other departments have been called in to help and an ambulance has also been requested.
