DANBURY - Firefighters had to extricate one passenger from a Chevy Volt after the car was involved in a collision with a pickup truck on Backus Avenue Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. near Buffalo Wild Wings, Deputy Fire Chief Paul Omasta said.

The pickup truck suffered moderate front end damage, but the two occupants did not appear to be injured. Firefighters had to disable the power system on the Volt before cutting the center post and removing the female passenger, who was taken to Danbury Hospital, Omasta said.

Names of those involved in the accident weren’t available Sunday evening, police said.
